Back to Pre-School Made Easy: 5 Tips to Help Your Child Start Kinder with Confidence

I’ve put together some tried-and-true tips to help you and your child ease into the transition of their first day back:

⭐ Get Ready Early: Start your night and morning routines a week or two in advance to help everyone adjust.

⭐ Talk About What to Expect: Share what their day will look like and read books about kindergarten to spark excitement. Here is a good collection, you’re likely to find a few at your local library! Even if they’re focused on school, they often share similar themes and feelings.

⭐ Encourage Independence: If your little one is old enough, practice little tasks like zipping up backpacks or opening lunchboxes. Kinder teachers encourage this independence and will often ask parents to practice at home.

⭐ Add Familiar Comfort: Let your child bring a personalized item, like a small keepsake. One educator suggested giving your child a laminated family photo to look at during moments when they might feel unsettled and need a comforting, familiar face. It worked wonders for my eldest!

⭐ Stay Positive: Your excitement will help them feel excited, too!

At jude&moo, I’m here to make your back-to-school prep a little smoother. That’s why I designed our backpacks with soft silicone zippers that are easy for little hands to pull and large compartments that fully open, making unpacking a breeze when they arrive.
